Tony Perkins, President of the Family Research Council, has come out against Senator Sam Brownback’s stance on immigration. Read this xenophobic diatribe that he told the Washington Post:
Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, who talks frequently with the senator, said Brownback should address the concerns of religious conservatives, including beliefs that a large influx of undocumented workers undermines the social fabric and that many of them do not learn English or attempt to assimilate into the larger society.
Social fabric? I bet those uppity negros in the 1960’s were undermining the social fabric as well, weren’t they Tony?
Such a blatantly racist sentiment would be expected from someone such as Tom Tancredo, but from the leader of a Christian organization? It seems that Tony Perkins is heading down the road to being the next Pat Robertson.

They are here illegally. This is not a racial issue, as you are trying to portray it. He refers to them “undocumented workers,” not by their race or ethnicity.

Joe:
How can undocumented workers undermine the “social fabric.” I guess the correct question to ask is what color is the fabric that is supposedly being undermined. If the only argument is that those people don’t learn English, I believe that is a weak argument. And just in case your anti-immigrant Republican, in the interest of National Security we need know who are those 11 million people are. Don’t you think?

I’ll tell you where illegal immigrants should be for Nat’l Security purposes: back in their home country.
Illegal activity undermines the social fabric. Murderers, rapists, child molestors, tax evaders, bank robbers, and double parkers (oh, and illegal immigrants) all undermine the social fabric that Americans believe in. I don’t care what race or ethnicity you are, if you are performing an illegal activity you need to be held accountable.
At the very least, Nate’s post is based not on direct quotes, but rather a reporter’s view of Perkins’ beliefs.
As I have asked before, I am not sure what the purpose of this post is, especially in regards to “savaging” Sen. Brownback. A post like this continues to show Nate’s wont to take the opposite side of Brownback regardless of the issue. This tactic, while extremely weak and indefensible, falls flat on its face when Brownback sides with the Democrats.

Don’t if this has been posted, but Senator Sam is too kooky for our nation. Separation of Church and State, our Founding Fathers knew best. Also, amazing how Reagan’s economics put Sam’s parents and farmers like them out of business, but yet he Brownback wants to adopt the Reagan way. Shame.
Brownback needs to show for a debate next time, not like last election—then run his little “Senator Sam, what a ham” commercials at the last minute. Folks are on to that, too. How’s the “Fellowship”?

Riiiiight, and that’s why Congressional sessions open with prayer.

It would be interesting to know which of today’s advocates against illegals are decendents of illegals.
I’m pretty sure a lot of them are hiding their backgrounds.

Actually the 12 million is more like 30 million. The “12 million” number is from Reagans era. And these are not law abiding citizens. They are here illegaly. They are overcrowding our schools, our hospitals, our healthcare, our prisons and lowing the standard of life for AMERICANS. They are slowing turning this country into the countries from which they fled. Something needs to be done and this is NOT a republican issue. It’s a republican/democrat vs. liberal issues. Only 19% of democrats support illegal immigration. I think libs will be very surprised to find many of the democratic party (from the general population) leaning towards people like Duncan Hunter and Tancredo in the next election.
